Charles Krauthammer wrote a book with his son’s editing. Dr.
Krauthammer died this year and left off finishing the book so his son,
Daniel Krauthammer, finished it. Krauthammer was quoted, “You don’t
want to talk in highfalutin, ridiculous abstractions that nobody
understands.” He said, “Just try to make things plain and simple.” The
title of the book is, THE POINT OF IT ALL, A LIFE OF GREAT LOVES AND
ENDEAVORS.
On this cold, rainy, dismal day this book inspired me to consider that
any endeavor I undertake should be motivated by love. I’ve only read a
few pages of the introduction. If expressing truth in love is not the
main point of my endeavors then I should rethink them.
How do you love someone? You do them good and not evil. I heard a
person say today that maybe we should over look others unbiblical,
evil, or self-destructive behaviors as an expression of love. However, if
you truly love someone, you cannot allow them to go headlong into
something destructive without giving them a warning. That type of
love is the point of it.
