A snowy day

Today has been a snowy day. Such a day urges one to stay in a warm place and not go out much, unless, you’re one for adventure. I had to get out a few times to see if the roads were unpassable. The roads are open without icing at this time. Two trips to the mailbox area were enough of an adventure for me. I’ll wait to build a snowman if there is enough snow tomorrow.

Benaiah was a character in the Bible (1Chronicles 11:22) who was described as a champion warrior who jumped into a pit on a snowy day and slew a lion. Now, a person may be a hero if he acts bravely in an unexpected situation. But, to jump, on purpose, into a pit where there is no room to turn around or leave, is a notch above the usual hero’s bravery. Personally, if I should find myself in a tight spot, I hope God would give me courage to at least seem brave.

To say the least, I don’t go looking for trouble. Think about it. Isn’t that just what Jesus did? Our Lord

jumped into our fray to save us from sin, death, hell, sickness, and poverty. Thank you Lord Jesus!
