Calmer and focused.....

“Playing this game can make you calmer and focused,” was the statement on a “Pop-up” on my phone. I immediately tapped off the screen as I do the many ads that come up there. Then I thought, is there some activity that could make you calmer and focused? Hinduism suggests transcendental meditation. This method describes putting yourself into some kind of trance-like state which will help you feel relaxed and calm. It sounds like taking a nap on company time and using it to explain to your boss why you appeared to be asleep.

However, I can suggest a type of meditation that really works for me: biblical meditation. Use the 91 st Psalm. The psalm is only 16 verses long. Find a place where you may relax, with good lighting, pray in the Spirit for a period, and then read out loud the psalm softly to yourself. I do this at night before I go to bed. It helps me get to sleep. The Holy Spirit uses it to calm any residual anxieties or problems left over from the day.

Think of it! Dwell in the secret place of the Most High. Where could you find a better place to abide than under the shadow of the Almighty? The LORD is our refuge and fortress. You’ll sense how it is to be safe and sound in Christ Jesus. You may do this type of meditation with a number of different verses from the Bible. You’ll find them all greatly beneficial for rest and relaxation.
