Elizabeth....

Thinking about a young lady named Elizabeth today, I realized her name was “Elisheva” in Hebrew. It means, “Oath of God,” or in our understanding, “A promise of God.” She lost her life in a tragic accident yesterday.

There have been two notable queens of England named Elizabeth. I can think of a movie star named Elizabeth. In all of these other Elizabeth’s none have made an impression on me or others like this young woman. She was a checker at Walmart. She had an infectious laugh that would pull you into a joyful mood especially if you were feeling down. She accepted people for who they were and had no rejection of anyone. People reportedly would line behind her checkout station just to have her check their items. I know because I was one of them. Elizabeth, indeed, fulfilled her name as a promise of God.

God’s promises did not pass with her, however. “For all the promises of God are yes and amen in

Him.”(2Corinthians 1:20). Again, God has granted to us His precious and exceedingly great promises (2Peter 1:4) which will never fail.
