Free Stuff?

Do you like to get free stuff? Yeah, I like free stiff too. A lot of politicians are promising free things such as free tuition for college, free child care, and guaranteed yearly income, all for free! There’s a lot more from “Uncle Sugar,” or the U S government. The problem is that when the government gives you anything it demands that you agree or at least verbally comply with the government mind set. Also, you surrender some of your freedom for government protection and provision. This popular thought is called socialism.

I heard a story about a young man who was told that he could learn ultimate wisdom from a guru-prophet that lived upon a very high, almost unreachable mountain. The young man took on the challenge and struggling climbed to the peak of the mountain and found the prophet. He asked the guru, “Give me ultimate wisdom.” The prophet with his eyes almost closed uttered these words, “There ain’t no free lunches.” Hmm. Somebody’s got to pay for it. So the free stuff really isn’t free. Somewhere down the line you have to pay for it. Is it worth it? Socialism requires governmental enforcement.

The only thing free in this world is the grace of God. But, that grace cost God Almighty the life of His Son, Jesus. However, Jesus rose from the dead to insure we would be able to have that grace

implemented in our lives if we give ourselves to Him by faith.
