An article in the newspaper reported that a certain man prayed
for God to show him someone to help each day. On Christmas
day he set up a tent in his front yard and took $70 worth of
food stamps, bought food, and cooked a Christmas dinner for
anyone who needed it or just wanted to eat with him. He even
went so far as to do take-out meals. Think of it. This was his
entire food stamp money for a month.
Many are looking at their credit card bills that they built up and
will have to pay over the next year. Some have pumped a lot of
money into their Christmas celebrations only to end up feeling
still a bit empty. This man, in the article mentioned, will likely
have a sense of fulfillment though he may have some hungry
days ahead.
Maybe not. “Give and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running
over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same
measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you
again.” (Luke 6:38. You just can’t out-give God.
