I've got a secret

“I’ve got a secret.” Did that prick your attention? There was, in the past, a TV show by that title. It

attracted a lot of viewers who, like me, would attempt to guess the secret. Gossipers may start their story with such a statement that suggests juicy tidbits of information about someone. We are drawn to discovering a mystery when such is reported. In the human psyche there seems to be a need to discover a mystery.

Jesus used parables to reveal mysteries which He would explain to his disciples afterward. In Matthew13:11 Jesus informed His disciples, “…it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven…” Jesus was referring to the parable of the sower. There were 5 components of this parable: the sower, the seed, the soil, the fruit, and the harvest. It sounds like a sermon outline doesn’t it?

I’ll preach the sermon another time. I discovered that the King James Translation has the words

“mysteries” used 5 times and “mystery” used 22 times. In all of this, we need to realize our Lord is revealing many wonderful things about His Kingdom to us as believers in Christ. This is a Kingdom motivated by love. Our job is to reveal God’s love to everyone we meet.
