Miracle not magic....

We bought a new rug today for the bedroom rocking chair. I made a

quip about it being my magic carpet to carry me places. The idea came

from a story about Aladdin and his magic carpet in children’s fantasy

literature. Then I thought about Philip being translated for over 30

miles after leading an Ethiopian official to faith in Jesus. Was this

magic?

The answer is NO. Magic is a human effort to control circumstances or

situations with manipulation, deception, slight- of- hand, by other than

God’s spirit. There is a multitude of such activities used to entertain or

achieve advantage over circumstances, people, or things. Demonic

means are sometimes used with witchcraft. Sometimes, a person may

take credit for a natural occurrence for his own personal benefit.

When God works a miracle it is for revealing His compassion,

redemptive purpose, and response to our request. The Spirit of Christ

manifests His presence by supernatural means as indicated in 1

Corinthians chapter 12. A miracle is a sign that God is at work. It opens

the door for a discussion of the Gospel of the kingdom of God. Give the

chapter a read and be ready to see God’s miracles all around you.
