Rest or press.....

Have you noticed that Charles placed a crosstie barrier around the parking lot of our church building? I say well done, brother. Hebrews 11:1-2 reads, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.” When we, as a congregation, grow in attendance, a useable parking area will be helpful. Several have said such to me and Charles could see the means for improving the lot and took action. Again, I say thank you and well done faithful brother.

Knowing when to “rest” or “press” is important in the kingdoms work. Jesus noted that a builder will stop and count the cost before starting to build a structure. But, when called by Jesus to follow Him, we should leave all, take up our cross, and follow Him. It’s not just buildings and dirt but it may involve working with the dirt. Using another metaphor, you can’t grow a garden without getting your hands dirty doing so.

A young man said he thought he was called to be a preacher and what should he do? By the Spirit of God, I said, do what is in front of you to do. Start now sharing the Gospel with anyone who will listen. Rest in the confidence of God’s calling and anointing. And, press into the high calling by reaching out everywhere you can do so trusting in the Spirit of Christ to perform His works through you.
