Spring is coming.....

Spring seems to be creeping up to us. The days are yet shorter than the nights but each day gets a little longer. While we have not had a heat wave, the cool snaps seem to be getting shorter. Green grass is starting to grow in the yard. My mower is broke. I’ll have to get it fixed. Iris bulbs have long leaves coming up. I’m longing to say with Shakespeare, “the winter of our discontent has become glorious summer.”

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven….” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). The passage winds along every scenario of life and ends with this conclusion: “He hath made everything beautiful in his time; also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). I have passed a number of winters now (I’m 73) and spring always comes. The seeds which are buried in the dark ground of winter are about to rise in the spring to new life.

So Jesus’ body abided in the dark tomb for 3 days and rose early in the morning of the first day to start a new day for all humanity. Jesus informed Philip, “Verily, verily I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” (John 12:24). Has your life, purpose, or calling fallen into the dark ground of winter? Have faith in God. As Jesus rose out of death and darkness your hopes and dreams in Him will rise to new life by faith in Him.
