The flow of authority

Most service veterans understand the nature of authority. When they were in the armed service, a superior officer would give them an order and they would comply or face negative consequences. From where did the authority come? Well, each officer had another superior officer who would give them their orders. This authority would flow all the way back to the President of the United States. Where does he get his authority? The President gets his authority from the people who elected him. You find this track of authority designated in the constitution of the United States of America.

Jesus encountered a Roman Army officer that understood the authority of Jesus’ words. He suggested that Jesus just speak a word and his servant would be healed. We should learn about our authority that we have in Jesus.

One Air force veteran described his years in the service as being a crew maintenance person on a B-52. Later he was crew chief on a C-130. Lastly, he described being a crew chief on an A-10. These airships were (and still are) awesome and powerful instruments of war. Do you, believer and follower of Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords; realize the awesome power of the name of Jesus? By faith you

may wield mighty power to heal, deliver, and proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God.
