Tradition or a fresh wave

The first 300 years of the developing church and Christian communities, due to heavy persecution, some of the believers lived in caves or excavated tunnels. Some escaped into the desert. In the desert some built monasteries. Those who lived in the catacombs would often create meeting halls with paintings and frescoes that were beautiful. Around 350 AD Christianity became more popular and less persecuted. But many continued in the caves and desert monasteries. It had become a way of life and a tradition.

I wonder how many of the things we do as part of worship and witnessing are more traditions. I believe the Holy Spirit is about to introduce new activities and methods that we have never imagined before. Also, opposition to our message may cause many to hide their message as those did in the catacombs. Will fear of social rejection cause us to become strangely silent with the Lord’s message and teachings? Will we comply with the world’s view so as to avoid rejection or persecution?

Get ready for what God is doing now! We are about to plow new ground. When’s the last time you thought of proclamation of the Gospel as an agricultural procedure?
